Fred Guthrie, 87

Fred Guthrie, 87,  passed away Dec. 31, 2010 in Spokane, Wash.  He was born in a log cabin in Copeland, on Dec. 4, 1923 to Chauncey and Josephine Guthrie. 

He was the fourth child out of a family that eventually included two daughters and five sons. 

Fred was a twice wounded, decorated veteran of WWII and attained the rank of Buck Sgt. His military service was performed primarily in the European theatre and included the invasion at Normandy Beach, the Battle of the Bulge and Buchenwald (always remember). Fred will be remembered for his outgoing friendly nature and his talent as a country western musician.

His pride and joy was his family. Fred was happily married for 53 years to his beloved wife, Annabelle Lesmeister Guthrie (deceased).

Fred is survived by his children Russ (Patti Butler- Fiancé) Guthrie, Debbie (Greg) Prater, Michael (Jan) Guthrie, Calleen Veh (loving companion), two brothers, four grandchildren and one great grandchild.

His funeral service will be held in Bonners Ferry in the spring.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
