The Bonners Ferry women’s varsity basketball kicked off the 3rd annual Moose Madness activities with a disappointing 42-53 loss Saturday night.

The Badgers went into halftime with a 24-22 lead over Sandpoint. Bonners Ferry played a good first half led by juniors Amanda Riley who led the team with 13 points and 5 steals and Jordan Porter with 7 points and 11 rebounds. Women’s varsity head coach Travis Hinthorn told the girls at half time that they did a good job; need to keep it up and rebound a little bit better.”

The Badgers had a tough time in the second half, being out scored 5-12 in the third and 13-21 in the fourth. Hinthorn adds “We had a little mental lapse in the third quarter; we just could not get a shot off. I think that we got a little tired.”

“We seem to have two or three great quarters but we always seem to miss that one quarter. “ Hinthorn continues, “It will be nice to get back to league and put it together, the good thing is that we competed tonight a much better effort than when we paled down in Sandpoint.”
