Sandpoint man dies in crash near Libby

LIBBY  — One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash near Libby on Friday.

Josh Peters, 29, of Sandpoint was traveling east on U.S. Highway 2 toward Libby in a passenger car when he crossed the centerline for an unknown reason.

A logging truck was in the oncoming lane, driven by 44-year-old Todd Smith of Bonners Ferry. Smith tried to swerve, but Peters struck the truck and died at the scene.

Neither Smith or his 12-year-old passenger were not hurt and alcohol and speed didn't appear to be factors in the crash.
