Robert Wayne North

Robert Wayne North, 75, passed away as a result of an accident near Boswell, British Columbia, Canada on July 20, 2011.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Services will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2011, at 2 p.m. in the Seventh-day Adventist Church North of Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

Robert (Bob) Wayne North was born on July 13, 1936, in Venice, Calif., to John D and Francis North. He was the youngest of four children; his brothers are Daniel, David and Jack North.

Bob graduated from Venice High School then joined the United States Navy in 1954. He served eight years of active and reserve duty and was stationed in Everett, Wash. Bob then worked for GTE in Santa Monica, Calif.; Everett, Wash.; Sandpoint, Idaho; and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and retired after 37 years of service.

Bob married Christine Swenson in 1955 and was the proud father of nine children; Shannon (Justin) Brost; Scott Wayne (Gay) North; Bartholemew David North; Corrine (Tom) Helton; Cassandra (Pat) Reno; Penelope (Jeffrey) Shaul; Marnita (Michael) Riggs; Theodore Thomas (Jana) North; Lorilie (Joseph) Heisel. He had 20 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

After the passing of his wife, he married Velda Breen in 1999 and expanded his family with four step-daughters and 36 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Bob and Velda were avid square dancers, traveling many miles to dance and, as a result, gained many wonderful friendships over the years. They loved to “snowbird” to Quartzsite, Arizona to visit family and friends and participate in all the activities.
