Boundary County School District workers plan retirement
The end of the Boundary County School District No. 101 school year also brought the closing of several long careers in education.
A bitter sweet time for most, the retiring teachers, custodians, cook and bus drivers are looking forward to retirement.
Leonard Eby taught for 36 years, Tracy Iverson, 26 years, and Leo Naiman was a teacher for 14 years.
They will all say good bye to Bonners Ferry High School.
At Valley View Elementary, Francine Santoro taught for 26 years; Kathy Schnuerle, 16 years; and Holly Dornfeld for 10 years. Mary Dirks cooked for students for the past 33 years.
Valley View custodian of 32 years, Bob Tritt, will also bid farewell.
In the transportation department, Rick Henlsee will retire after 24 years driving kids to and from school on the bus.
And then there is Supt. Don Bartling who spent the last 10 years serving the school district.
“We are glad and lucky to have had such wonderful educators all these years on our district and it is sad to see them go,” Bartling said.
