Fans don their favorite pirate garb for movie

| June 23, 2011 9:19 AM

The Rex Theater in downtown Bonners Ferry hosted a showing of  “Pirates of the Caribbean,  On Stranger Tides.”

There was a fantastic turn out with fans dressed in pirate attire, according to new owner Abra Chouinard.

There were so many moviegoers the Disney film started 30 minutes later to make sure everyone had concessions before the curtains opened.

“We had people coming back for a second and third popcorn order,” said Chouinard.  “The atmosphere and food was so good, people were really enjoying a night out at the movies.”

The Rex was recently purchased by Chouinard and her husband Chris Robinson.

Chouinard  grew up on a ranch just south of town and graduated from Bonners Ferry High School in 1994. She met Robinson who is from Bozeman Mont., in college.

They both work in the entertainment industry which makes owning the Rex a natural progression for them.

Keep a weathered eye on the marquee as the owners are in the process of opening the stage and converting the balcony for dinner reservations.

No rum will be served but for the seasoned pirate, perhaps a beer or some wine instead while  watching a movie at the Rex.
