Boundary County School District has hired Kris Knowles from Lake City High School as Bonners Ferry High School’s new athletic director.

Knowles isn’t a stranger to education or athletics. His mother was a middle school principal and his father was a coach.

Knowles taught and coached at LCHS for 11 years.  He coached the men’s basketball team at North Idaho College for the past two years.

Knowles grew up in  Coeur d’ Alene. He played basketball and graduated from Coeur d’ Alene High in 1993.

He went to the University of Idaho after high school and earned two masters degrees, one in educational administration and the other in athletic administration.

Knowles and his wife Kelli and two daughters Ali, three, and Avery, one, will make their home in Bonners Ferry. Kelli will be teaching English at the high school in the place of recently retired Tracy Iverson.

“I would love to say that we are so happy to be in Boundary County and part of the district,” Knowles said.

He said he has always been conformable in north Idaho and looks forward to tranquility and peacefulness of a small town community.

Knowles said he and his wife are community oriented people and are looking forward to getting to know people.

“ I plan on being around as much as possible,” said Knowles.  “I have an open door policy and the phone is always on.”
