Boundary County Sheriff Greg Sprungl confirmed a man is dead after a deputy attempted to arrest him early Monday morning.

There are unconfirmed reports that a Tazer was involved in the incident, but Investigator Dave McClelland said that he could not comment on the matter because it is still under investigation by Idaho State Police.

The name of the deceased man is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

McClelland said a full report is expected within a few days.

A call came in to dispatch at 12:15 a.m. from a local resident claiming a vehicle was blocking the roadway on Highway 95.

When the caller attempted to help the motorist, a naked man stepped out of the vehicle . The caller returned to her vehicle and called the sheriff after taking an alternate route home.

A sheriff’s  deputy responded and made initial contact with the subject.  While taking the man into custody he appeared to have an unknown medical event.  The deputy called for an ambulance and the man was transported to Boundary Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Sheriff’s authorities requested an independent investigation of the incident by Idaho State Police.

The investigation is in progress.
