BFHS life skills students raise money to help stock holiday baskets

The Bonners Ferry High School Lifeskills class presented a check to Pastor Steve Robins, president of the Ministerial Association, for $230.
The money was raised in a Lifeskills class that has become somewhat of an annual tradition at BFHS.
The students made homemade pies in apple, pumpkin, cherry, chocolate pecan, lemon meringue and huckleberry and sold them to students and staff.
On Nov. 10, the students held the pie sale. With the help of special Ed teacher Kathy Rounsville, Para professional Donna Nystrom and teachers assistant Kyle Wilson, the students baked 22 pies.
They sold out of everything.
This was a cooking project done for the specific reason to raise money for the Ministerial Association Holiday Baskets.
For the project the students planned, made posters for advertising a shopped for the ingredients.
They made homemade pie crusts and baked all the pies. They also tested their math skills estimating costs, measuring ingredient cutting pies and making change.
The project was a success and has become a tradition for the students at BFHS.
