BFPD visits 4-H Afterschool program

| November 17, 2011 5:41 AM

The 4-H Afterschool and Bonners Ferry Police Department make great community partners.

On Friday, Oct. 28, Bonners Ferry Police paid a visit to the 4-H Afterschool program at Boundary County Middle School.

Bonners Ferry Police Officer Willie Cowell brought his police bike to the school for a special bike safety presentation to the 4-H Afterschool kids.

4-H Afterschool meets every Friday at the middle school from 7:30 a.m  to 5:30 p.m. The students have fun learning experiences in areas of science and technology, arts and culture and healthy living.

Cowell’s visit gave the kids a chance to see a fully outfitted police bike, and learn about helmet safety and proper riding procedures.

Each student got their picture taken with Officer Cowell and had fun trying his bike out.

The kids also explore the inside of a police cruiser and had a handcuff demonstration from Cowell. The 4-H Afterschool kids are looking forward to a January visit from School Resource Officer Tiffany Murray, and her K9 friend, Sally Sue.

4-H Afterschool appreciates our local police force and wants to thank Officer Cowell, Police Chief Alonzo, and all of the Bonners Ferry Police Department for making our city a safe place for families.
