7th and 8th grade football hosts two games

For the last two Saturday’s Bonners Ferry seventh and eighth grade football teams hosted teams from Timberlake and St. Maries.

On Oct. 1, St. Maries seventh grade players came out with two drives and in the first quarter they were ahead of the Badgers 13-0. The seventh grade Badgers had a tough time with consistency and St. Maries scored again in the fourth quarter ending the game with a final score of Badgers 0 and St. Maries 19.

Eighth grader Davis Merrifield scored in the first quarter of the eighth grade game. Merrifield also ran in the conversion for a 7 to 0 lead.

In the second quarter Collin Vickers made a nice run from 18 yards out to make it 13 to 0.  St Maries answered back before half time with a big fourth down play and a nice catch in the end zone making the score 13 to 6.

Late in the third quarter Carle Warren made a great interception over the middle and returned it 25 yards for a touchdown.

In the fourth quarter St. Maries scored on another great catch in the end zone with  four minutes left to get within 19 to 12.

On the ensuing kickoff St Maries recovered the onside kick and was threatening to score when Gabe Hubbard made a great defensive play by batting a pass down on fourth down and long, leaving the Badger with the win, 19-12.

Timberlake seventh and eighth grade teams visited Bonners Ferry on Sept. 24.

In the seventh grade game Timberlake won 19 to 6 with Bonners Ferry's only touchdown coming on a Caleb Stockton six-yard run which tied the score at 6 just before half-time.

The eighth graders fought hard in a tough game against Timberlake in their game coming up short losing to Timberlake 6-0. Both teams moved the ball up and down the field. Timberlake scored in the last 4 minutes of the game.
