Badgers Down Lumberjacks 3 - 1

The Bonners Ferry Boy’s Soccer  team defeated the St. Maries Lumberjacks 3–1 on Saturday at St. Maries. 

With the win the team improved to 3–0 in IML play, assuring themselves of no worse than a tie for the league title. Senior midfielder Hayden Wakkinen opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, heading in a corner kick from sophomore midfielder Oscar Lopez to put the Badgers up 1–0 .

Sophomore forward Eammon McCoy scored his first goal in the 65th minute with a 16-yard volley off an assist from senior midfielder Andre Zarate.  Zarate put the game away in the 72nd minute with an unassisted goal, his 13th of the season. 

The Lumberjacks converted a penalty kick in the last minute to complete the scoring.  Bonners outshot St. Maries 15–5 with junior goalkeeper Garrett Skeen recording four saves.

This Saturday marks the final home games of the high school season.  Orofino is the opponent for Senior Day, with the girl’s kicking off at 1 p.m. and the boy’s following at 3 p.m.
