Tribe donates $80k to bcsd

The Kootenai Tribe of Idaho in September, presented Boundary County School District with check in the amount of $80,000.

A law known as Proposition 1 that went into effect in 2002 requires that money generated from casino revenues at the Kootenai River Inn in Bonners Ferry go to a school district. The tribe decides the amount of money.

According to BCSD Supt. Richard Conley, last year the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho’s donation of 81,000 provided funding for new bleachers at the Boundary County Middle School and computers for students.

The tribe in the past has given funding to the district for the new girls’ softball field,  for Becker Auditorium, for  new playground equipment at Valley View Elementary School and at Mt. Hall Elementary School.

The Kootenai Tribe also donated the electronic reader board in front of BCMS and the score board on the high school softball field.

They have also supported the Drug Abuse Resistance Education and School Resource Officer programs in Boundary County.
