Badgers draw with Libby
On Monday senior midfielder Andre Zarate converted on a 16-yard shot off an assist from senior midfielder Daniel Palacios in the 50th minute Monday night to help the Bonners Ferry Boys’ soccer team to a 1–1 tie with the Libby Loggers at Lindberg Field.
Libby struck first in the non-league match, scoring in the 21st minute on a 25 yard free kick.
The Badgers outshot the Loggers 12–8, with several near misses for the winning goal late in the second half.
Junior goalkeeper Garrett Skeen stopped six shots, while the forward trio of sophomores Eammon McCoy and Victor Mendez, plus freshman Steffen Robles created many scoring chances during the course of the game. Sophomore midfielders Juan Mendez and Oscar Lopez played their best games of the season as well.
On Sept. 16, the Badgers lost in a 3-1 score to Sandpoint’s junior varsity.
The Badgers return to action at 4 p.m. , Tuesday, Sept. 27 with a home game vs. St. George’s.
