Birthday fire under control for now

| September 22, 2011 6:31 AM

Management of the 628-acre Birthday Fire, burning high up in the Smith Creek drainage since Sept. 5, was turned back over to the Bonners Ferry Ranger District Tuesday morning

The Type II Northern Rockies Incedent Management Team led by Rick Kusicko has been released from working on the fire.

Helicopers remain available should the still-smouldering fire flare up.

It is anticpated that the fire will continue to keep local Forest Service fire crews on alert until there's a significant rain to finally put it out.
