Known for being flat, fast, and competitive, the Plantes Ferry/Erik Anderson Invitational offered up all three last Saturday.

Additionally, the Badgers cross country runners faced the challenge of racing hard in temperatures around 90 degrees.

“It definitely was hot, but like Travis Hinthorn says, 'It's hot for everyone,” coach Paul Bonnell said. “Generally, we raced well despite the conditions.”

Indeed, the Badger boys team placed ninth out of 20 full teams, with Micah Krmpotich fifth (16:04) and Jacob Callister 20th (16:39) as individuals. Many Badgers set personal bests. Jacob Perkins ran 18:08; sophomore Bradley Thompson posted 17:35. In the girls race, Katy Hiatt tied her best performance ever with a 23:44.

“I like how our teams are developing and growing. We're learning at each race,”Bonnell said. “I'm glad for all the parent support we had at Plantes Ferry. It made a difference.”
