V-ball team drops three games vs. Kellogg

The Bonners Ferry High School volleyball team played Kellogg Thursday and lost in three games.

The scores were 21-25, 20-25, 21-25.

Ivy Dirks had 12 assists, Mattea Bertling had three kills, three blocks and two ace serves.  Tessa Payne added three kills and Ally Merrifield came in with six digs.

“We struggled with serve receive in the first game. We were down 8-1, fought back to a 20-22,  but couldn't pull it out,” said coach Janis Tucker. “We only had a 80 percent serving percentage which doesn't sound bad, but when rally score comes into play, we gave them 10 unforced points plus the ball.

Tucker said the league is tough this year and though the Badgers win/loss record doesn't look great, but the potential for the Badgers to beat some of these teams is there.

“We will work this week on making every play count so that our opponent will have to earn every point the hard way,” Tucker said.  “We want them to walk off the court knowing that they had to play hard.”

The game on Tuesday, Oct. 4, against Timberlake at home will be the annual "Dig Pink" game and all money raised goes to Breast Cancer Awareness.  Wear pink to the game.
