Lacrosse club drops games
The Bonners Ferry Lacrosse Club Warriors lost the first three games of the season to the top three teams in the North Idaho’s Lacrosse League.
In the season opener, the Warriors challenged the 2011 league champions, Gonzaga Prep, under the lights at Gonzaga.
The Warriors hung with G-Prep for the first half of the game with the score 3-2 in favor of G-Prep at halftime.
In the third and fourth quarters G-Prep went on a scoring run and the final score was 18-4.
In the home opener against the Coeur d'Alene Vikings the visiting Vikings went on a first quarter scoring run scoring 10 unanswered goals. The 10 goals were finally answered by Middie Zach Wilson who scored the lone goal for the Warriors. The Vikings continued the shootout against rookie goalie Jake Wilson finding the back of the net with the rock another 10 times resulting in a final score of 20-1.
In the third contest, the Warriors traveled to Moscow Saturday to take on the Logos Knights. The Knights opened the contest with five unanswered goals before Warrior Attackman Ryan Mullison found the back of the net with the rock.
The Knights continued their scoring spurt with another five goals before Mullison scored again from 15 yards out in front of the goal. The final score was 10-2.
Coaches John Niewieroski and Brandon Glaza had high praise for their rookie goalie who has a 55 save percentage, with many of the save from point blank range.
