Josephine Svendsbye Poindexter, 83

Josephine Svendsbye Poindexter, 83, passed from this earth to her heavenly home on March 9, 2012, after an extended illness.

A memorial service will be held this summer in Bonners Ferry, Idaho to commemorate her life.

Josephine was born in Hamlet, N.D., July 29, 1928, to Elling and Johanna Svendsbye.

The family moved to Bonners Ferry to work in timber, cattle, and agriculture.

Josephine married Aubrey Poindexter in November 1969 and lived in Phoenix, Ariz., and Connell, Wash., where she was the city clerk. Later they moved to Wenatchee, Wash., to manage Castlerock Village Apartment Complex for several years.

After Aubrey’s death in 1993, Josephine returned to Bonners Ferry to care for her older siblings in their later years. She enjoyed volunteering with the Ladies Auxiliary for the local hospital and serving with the Festival of Trees charity auction. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church for many years.

In 2008 Josephine relocated to Wenatchee to be closer to her son and daughter-in-law residing at RiverWest Assisted Living home. She moved to Surprise, Ariz., and lived at A Paradise for Parents private home until she passed away. She was blessed to receive wonderful care at these facilities.

Josephine was preceded in death by husband Aubrey Poindexter, her parents Elling and Johanna Svendsbye, brothers Albert, Leonard, and Emil, and sister Bertha Washburn.

Survivors include sisters Gina Ballinger of Florida and Lina Hazel of Ohio, son Keith Kelley (Patti), Las Vegas Nev., and son Steven Kelley (Mary) Phoenix, Ariz., grandchildren Dane and Kaylynn Kelley and great grandson, Jax.
