William Daniel Mulvaney, 87

William Daniel Mulvaney, 87, beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather passed into his heavenly home, on Aug. 7, 2012.

He was born on Feb. 13, 1925, in Casper, Wyo., son of James and Ethel Mulvaney. He was the sixth of seven children.

William known to most as Bill, grew up in Ely, Nev. He enjoyed a childhood of riding and wrangling horses across the sage. These days were some of his fondest memories.

After serving in the Army as a Medic during World War II, he came north with his parents in 1946.

Bill married Olive Carrither on May 11, 1950, in St Ann’s Catholic Church in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Most of their married life was spent at their home outside Moyie Springs, Idaho, raising their six children .

Bill was employed at the Moyie Lumber Mill for 32 years and later at the Priest River lumber mill as a grader for a few years. He also worked at Rocky Mountain Academy in Boundary County for a few years before he retired.

Bill was an active member of the community working on the Skin Creek Water Association board and assisted in maintenance of the water system.

He and Olive grew produce in their garden to supplement the local Food Bank.

He was a sketch artist, and has passed along to family many western cowpoke influenced drawings. He and Olive enjoyed woodworking and provided many loved gifts each year with this hobby.

He is survived by his children: Ellen and Wayne Crooks; Penny and Terry Pollard; Betty and Steven Jones; Patrick and Judy Mulvaney; Mike and Teresa Mulvaney; and Katy and Kenneth McGee; his 20 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.

Bill loved life and lived his faith as a man of integrity and honor. He is loved and will be terribly missed.

Funeral mass was celebrated on Saturday, Aug. 11 at 10 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church with Father Joseph Blattner as celebrant and Wayne Crooks and Joe Nicholas as assisting deacons.

Visitation was at noon Friday, Aug. 10 followed by rosary and parish vigil at 7p.m. at the Bonners Ferry Funeral Home.

Inurnment and committal will be at Grandview Cemetery.
