JV girls win first three

The Bonners Ferry High School JV basketball team started the season with three wins.

On Nov. 19, Kersten Oxford led the Badger JV team to a victory over the St. Maries Varsity, who moved down to 2A classification this year. Bonners Ferry JV won 46-39.

On Nov. 26, Bonners Ferry JV won 40-34 against the Lake City freshman. Jaiden Everhart led the Badgers with 13 points. Abby Davis hit a 3 pointer with 40 seconds left to give the Badgers the lead. The Badgers out scored the Timberwolves 15-5 in the fourth quarter for the victory.

On Dec. 1, Bonners Ferry JV won 46-11 against Lakeland. JV girls held Lakeland to four first half points and only allowed five field goals the whole game. Scoring was led by Emma Kelly with 15 points and McKenzie MacDonald with 12 points.

“Winning those close games early in the season should give us a lot of confidence as the season goes on,” said head coach Travis Hinthorn.
