Varsity girls defeat Hawks

| December 7, 2012 8:48 AM

The Badgers built a 18-5 first quarter lead and held on to beat the 4A Lakeland Hawks 45-39 on Dec. 1.

Jasmine Hill led all scores with 16 points and also added nine rebounds and three steals. She also hit a 25 footer at the buzzer at the end of the third quarter.

“Jasmine was solid, she played a great game,” said head coach Travis Hinthorn.

The Badgers overcame early foul trouble with three starters sitting most of the second quarter with three fouls each.

“We need to be a little more careful about our fouls away from the basket. We need those people on the floor, not the bench,” said Hinthorn.

Savannah Woods added 11 points and nine rebounds.

“This was a great team effort. We will take the positives from this and also continue to work on things we need to get better at,” said Hinthorn.

“It’s always exciting when all three teams win on the same day,” said Hinthorn. The Badger varsity, JV and freshman teams all won against Lakeland in the home triple header on Saturday.
