Badgers third at St. Maries

The Bonners Ferry High School wrestling team traveled to St. Maries and took third place in a 10- team tournament Friday, Dec. 7 and Saturday, Dec. 8.

The team opened their season on Thursday, Dec. 6 traveling to Libby, Mont.

The Badgers ended up loosing 61-24 to the Libby Loggers.

Winners for the Badgers were Josh Tucker fighting at 135; Blaine Invernon at 140; Josh Miller at 145 and Cody Lucky at 285, all winning by pins.

At the St. Maries tournament, Blaine Invernon was named outstanding wrestler at the lower weight and M. Caldwell from Freeman for upper weights.

First place finishers for the Badgers were: Blaine Invernon fighting at 138; Carman Krichbaum at 195, and Cody Lucky at 285.

The Badgers also brought home one second place by Jay Gaspar fighting at 285; three third places by Josh Tucker at 120, Aaron Smith at 98, and Morris McKallister at 285; and one fourth place by Will Gaspar at 215.

Gasper was going for third place when he hurt his knee and couldn’t finish. Freshman Jaeger Schnuerle also finished third fighting at 113. All in all the team did very well.

Next matches will be at Tri-State and Lakeland this coming weekend.

The Badgers will be at home Dec. 18 and Dec. 22.
