Donna Mae Sanders, 77

Donna Mae (Melander) Sanders, 77, loving wife, mother, grandma and friend, lost her battle with cancer and went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 25, 2012.

A memorial service andcelebration of Donna’s life will be held in Wenatchee, Wash., on May 18, 2013.

She grew up and graduated in Wenatchee, Wash. She worked at Ma Bell Telephone in Seattle for 12 years and Carnation Post Office until retiring in 1990.

She then moved to Bonners Ferry Idaho, where she resided with her husband, Leo Sanders.

Her passion in life was serving the Lord, enjoying the outdoors and spending time with family and friends. She was one of the founders of Lake Samammish Water Ski Club and skied competition for many years.

She also loved to cook, garden, camp, ride horses and pack into the mountains, ride four wheelers and spend time with her friends, family and grandkids. Donna and and Leo spent their 25th wedding anniversary packed into the North Cascade Mountains on horseback.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 49 years, Leo Sanders; son, Kip and Roxanne Sanders of Duvall Wash.;, daughter, Tom and Deena Calder of Elk, Wash.; four grandkids, Carmen, Kyle, Josh and Austin and two sisters; Beverly Pearson and Janet McKenna of Wenatchee.

The family wants to extend a special thank you to the nurses and aides at North Idaho Hospice who helped them through this difficult time.

The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Idaho or the Northwest Cancer Society.
