With the recent winter storms have come many vehicle accidents.

Last week alone, Jan. 17 thorough Jan. 22, in Boundary County there were 13 vehicle collisions, according to Boundary County Sheriff’s office.

The posted speed limits are for  ideal weather and road conditions, according to Idaho State Police.

People should adjust to a lower speed when driving in storms, wet or icy roads, low visibility or bad road conditions.

The Idaho State Police recommend when driving in the snow, do everything slowly.

Even with snow tires, traction control, and all-wheel drive they want people to keep in mind that driving in snow, sleet and ice is very treacherous.

Don't ever have a false sense of security because not everyone out there is being careful. Do everything slowly and gently.  In snow, tires are just barely grabbing the road so ISP advises to accelerate slowly and gently, turn slowly and gently and brake slowly and gently.

To do this one has to anticipate turns and stops. That means, what? Going slowly and leaving plenty of distance between you and other cars. Rapid movements lead to skids and loss of control.

Buckle up and don’t be in a hurry and leave earlier than usual to allow additional time to get to a destination.
