Wrestlers place 6th in Cd'A tournament

Bonners Ferry Badger Wrestlers bring home sixth place in the Coeur d’Alene Tournament Friday and Saturday.

Out of 13 schools represented the Bonners Ferry  Badgers took 15 members of their team and came home with Blaine Invernon placing first in the 132-pound weight class. Second place was taken by Carmon Krichbaum in the 195-pound weight class.

The Badger team also had three fourth place finishers, Josh Tucker  at 120 pounds, David Chapman at 126 pounds and Will Gaspar at 285 pounds.  In addition Blaine Invernon was named outstanding wrestler in the tournament and received an award on the memory of a former Coeur d’ Alene Viking wrestler, Justin Allan.

On Tuesday, Jan. 24, the Badgers went to Priest River and wrestled the Spartans and the Lakeland Hawks.

The Badgers beat the Spartans 40-31. Tucker had had a pin in the 120 pound weight class. In the 145-weight class Josh Miller also had a pin.  Anthony Skeen  had a pin in the 152-pound weight class. Jay and Will Gaspar both came in with pins in the 220 and 285-pound weight class.

The Hawks beat the Badgers 52-19.

The Badger wrestling team traveled to Missoula for the Rocky Mountain Class is on Jan. 13 and 14.

Out of 32 teams the Badgers placed 14th. Two Badgers took home medals. Invernon placed first in the 132-pound class weight, and Krichbaum took eighth place in the 195-pound weight class.

The Badger wrestling team will host a tournament at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 3, and all day starting at 9 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 4.
