Girls narrowly lose to Timberlake

The varsity girls baketball team lost to TImberlake at districts at Lakeland High School on Tuesday with a score of 46-40.

The Badgers played a close game through three quarters and took a two point lead into the fourth but were out scored 16-8 in the fourth quarter and lost in the first round of districts.

Timberlake also out rebounded the Badgers 20-9 into the first half. 

“We did a better job of rebounding in the second half,” said coach Travis Hinthorn. “We just had a hard time scoring at the end and they penetrated and beat us at the free throw line.”

Timberlake was 15-22 from the line and Bonners Ferry was 5-8.

Scoring was led by Aubree Wasmer 16 points. Wasmer also had nine rebounds and three steals. 

Wasmer is a sophomore and two-year varsity player and starter and was voted into the all Intermountain League team.

Senior Jordan Porter was also voted into the Intermountain League team and is a three-year varsity player a two year starter and a team captain.

The varsity girls play at 6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 9, against St. Maries in a loser out game at Lakeland High School.
