Wrestlers 2nd in local tourney

Bonners Ferry Badger Wrestlers took second place in their own tournament Saturday.

This placed four Badgers in the Championship round for three first placing and one second place.

Placing first were Blaine Invernon at 132 pounds, Carmon Krichbaum at 95 pounds and Jay Gaspar at 220 pounds. Second place winner was Will Gaspar at 220 pounds.

The Bonners Ferry Tournament was a tie for first place between Kellogg and Lakeland.  Bonners Ferry took second overall followed by teams from Timberlake, Priest River and St. Maries.

On Feb. 2, the Badgers traveled to Coeur d’Alene for some double duels.  The Badgers first took on the Moscow Bears and beat them 60-30.  Badgers with pins were Invernon, Zack Wilson, Anthony Skeen and Quinn Cummings. 

The Badgers then had a loss to the Vikings 69 -9 with the only pin by Invernon and a 5-2  win by Devin Schalk. Sandpoint was also there but Bonners Ferry did not have a duel with them.

During the evening there were a lot of exhibition matches by all teams.  Scoring pins were Jay Gaspar against Coeur d’Alene, Jesse Luther against Sandpoint, Mark Grow vs Coeur d’Alene, Mike Brown vs Coeur d’Alene, Rossie vs Sandpoint, Devin Schalk vs Coeur d’Alene and Rankin Langley vs Coeur d’Alene.

Next matches will be a JV tournament at Lake City on Feb. 11. 

 Districts will be held Feb. 17 and 18 at Lakeland.
