Boys second in tournament

 The Boundary County Middle School boys basketball team traveled to Timberlake on Feb. 11 taking second in the tournament, winning two out of three games.

In game one with River City of Post Falls the Badgers scored a 42-35 win.

Caleb Blackmore had 10 points, four rebounds and three steals while Chad Guthire added nine points, three rebounds and one steal. Davis Merrifield had six points, seven rebounds and one assist. Jake Tremble gave four points and six rebounds. Jacob Cook,Mitch Kramer, and Logan Bennett all had two points each.

The Badgers met up with Kellogg in game two.They beat Kellogg with a close score of 26-24.

During this game Cook had five points, two rebounds, and one steal.  Merrifield had four points, seven rebounds, one assist and one steal. Blackmore racked up four points, three rebounds and two steals. Jason Shutes had four points and six rebounds. Tanner Liermann gave four points and six rebounds and one steal. Dylan Unruh had three points and three rebounds.  Kyle Pintler had two points and two rebounds.

The last game the Badgers went up against St. Maries and they brought the Badgers only loss in the tournament.

The score was Badgers 33, St. Maries 49.

Merrifield had nine points and five rebounds. Unruh gave eight points.  Liermann had four points, two rebounds and one steal. Blackmore had two points, five rebounds, two steals and one assist. Shutes, Guthrie, Pintler and Cook each gave two points.

“The tournament was a great experience for our team,” said Coach Kevin Dinning. “All of the players contributed to our second place finish. We accomplished a great amount on the defensive end of the court, and we look forward to improving on our game for the last two weeks of the season.”
