Jerald B. Rainey

Jerald B. Rainey passed away on Feb. 10, at the Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, after a long and hard struggle with prostate cancer with mastitis to his bones.

He loved living in Bonners Ferry, but the family had to move to Coeur d’ Alene for extensive treatment. 

He was retired from the Coast Guard/Navy in 1980 and joined the Merchant Marines as a captain.  He loved the sea. 

He is survived by his wife Ruth Rainey of Coeur d’ Alene, ex-wife Nettie Sue Rainey of Darlington, S.C., son J. Scott Rainey of Alexandria, Va., son Tod Rainey of Alexandria, son Glenn Rainey of Darlington and daughter Jennifer Rainey of Arlington, Va.; also granddaughters, Beth Rainey, Clara Rainey and Sarah Rainey, and grandsons, Sam Rainey and Jason Rainey.

He also is survived by a brother David Rainey of Seaside, Ore., a sister Janell Krogel of Spokane, Wash., and an adopted sister Pat Carr of Spokane.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
