On Saturday the Badgers traveled to St. Maries and lost in a 63-51 final score.

“We never seemed to get in sync in this game,” said coach Clint Arthur. “After St. Maries took an early lead, the deficit see-sawed from four points to 12 points most of the game.”

Arthur said St. Maries rebounded well and their second chance points hurt the Badgers in the end.

“Alex Awbrey’s early foul trouble had a lot to do with their rebounding success,” said Arthur. “Neither team received much scoring help from the bench; we had two to their zero, but Austin Linnemeyer’s hot third-quarter shooting stretched St. Maries lead to double digits.”

Arthur said St. Maries clutch free throw shooting and our inability to hit shots ended the chance for a  Badger win.

Cameron Woods had a solid game offensively, scoring 16 points.

Last Thursday Timberlake took the Badgers 70-62 on the Badgers home court.

Arthur said Timberlake started the game on fire, hitting four of eight three-pointers in the first quarter to take an early lead.

The Badgers struggled offensively in the first half with too many turnovers and did not move well without the ball in their half-court offense.  “We wanted to set the tempo of the game, but our inability to attack Timberlake’s full-court press allowed them to control the game, and they amassed a 41-20 by half-time,” said Arthur. “In the second half, we looked like a new team. We rebounded better, played more intense defense, and worked together on offense. At one point, we cut the lead to seven, but we could not quite close the gap from the first half.”

Andre Zarate and Awbrey had a huge second half, combining for 26 of the team's 42 second half points and Woods added another 11.

Tuesday was not only Valentine’s Day it was Senior night for the Badgers and a win over Priest River 62-52.

After a slow start in the first quarter, the offense exploded in the second to take a 36-25 lead at half-time.

Garrett Skeen scored seven of his eight points in the second Awbrey chipped in for another seven in the quarter.

In the second half, Priest River clawed back into the game, cutting the lead to three early in the fourth quarter.

The Badgers shot 10 of 11 from the free throw line in the fourth to seal the game.

All four seniors played well on Senior Night, combining for 35 of the team's 62 points, according to Arthur.

Thomas Amoth played aggressive defense and rebounded well in his first start of the year.

“We played well as a team, shared the ball, and overcame some lapses in intensity with free throw shooting,” said Arthur.
