Girls edge Timberlake by one pt.

The Badgers girls varsity beat Timberlake in a gripping 37 to 236 score.

The Bonners Ferry girls earned this big victory over their league rivals to bring to bring them to a 2-1 Intermountain league record and 5-6 record overall.

In the middle of the third quarter the Badger were down by 12 points.

Coach travis Hinthorn switched to a smaller, faster line up and a man to man defense which allowed the Badgers to outscore the Tigers by 17 points and brought the Badgers to a five-point lead of 37-32 with 50 seconds on the clock.

The Tigers scored a final four points but the Badgers were able to win by one point.

Badgers were led by Aubree Wasmer with 14 points, nine rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Abby Skeen came in with eight points, three assists, and four steals.  Savannah Woods made seven points.

"Going to a small faster line up helped us to change the tempo defensively," said Hinthorn. "We also changed our struggling defense."

Hinthorn went on to say that the Badger girls have played well in their last couple of games. He said this win was a good one and will hopefully give the team some new confidence into the league play in the second half of the season.

The Badgers play nest at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 6 against Lakeland at home.
