Bike and Hike on the Dike

BONNERS FERRY — Can you say Bike and Hike on the Dike three times really fast without making a mess of the words?

No matter if can or cannot.

What local organizers hope is that you will be an inaugural member of the first will Bike and Hike on the Dike event.

Boundary Search and Rescue Dive Team is sponsoring the event, which will take place Saturday.

This is a two-person event in which one team member will hike and the other will bike the dike. Cost is $30 per team.

Team members start at the same time, although one is running while the other is riding a bike. Members can change places as often as they wish, however, both team members must cross the finish line at the same time to complete the race.

Check in will be at the Search and Rescue building (dike road, west of the Boundary County Fairgrounds, at first boat launch). The challenge starts at 9 a.m. Bike helmets must be worn for all team members when riding.

First place wins $100.
