Pass in the Grass or Scud in the Mud

Thirty-six souped-up lawn mowers from three states came to Bonners Ferry Fairgrounds on June 2, to participate in the unique of unique races, the Pass in the Grass 2012.

Only maybe it should have been called, Scud in the Mud 2012.

With days of rain preceding the race track was muddy and sludgy and made for an entertaining race.

In the Open Class division the winners where, in order Chris Spangler, Rod LePoidevin and Aaron Shaver.

Model A Class winners were Chris Spangler, Curtis Smith and Brad Gilmore. In the Model B Class there were winners in order, Curtis Smith, Bob Thorpe and Dallas Hash. The Superstock Class included winners on order, Buck Taggert, Wendell Hash and Brad Strength.

The ladies in their Powder Puff Class winners were, Anne Tompkins, Amy Reeves and Sheri Cheyney.

Winners for the Junior Class were, Nate Taylor, Bret Taggert and Ben Tompkins.

The proceeds from this fun, muddy mess will be used to make improvements the Boundary County Fairgrounds.

The Pass in the Grass this year was really a Pass in the Mud, according to Barbara LePoidevin.

“The Redneck Racers, volunteers and fair board put on one heck of a show,” said LePoidevin.
