B.F. Builders, Inc., of Bonners Ferry, is nearing completion of a new 50,000-square-foot Super 1 Foods store in Bonners Ferry.

This will make the 12th store for Manito Super 1 Foods Inc., owned by Hayden-based father and son grocers Ron and Randy McIntire.

Manito Super 1 operates 11 other stores including five more in North Idaho and six in Montana. The North Idaho stores are in Coeur d’Alene, Hayden, Post Falls, Rathdrum, Sandpoint, and the new store in Bonners Ferry.

The project is located on five acres of land on the west side of U.S. 95 at 6452 Main Street, at the south end of the city.

Cost for the new store is around $10 million, including land acquisition, construction, equipment, furnishings, and inventory, and will employ about 85 people when it opened on Wednesday June 13.

Store features include large produce, seafood, and meat departments as well as a natural food selection, a bakery and a deli.

Ivan Wedel, of B.F. Builders, Inc. says, “The new Super 1 Foods store will greatly benefit our community by providing a broad selection of grocery products at discounted prices that local folks previously had to travel 30 to 50 miles to obtain.

“The new store will give a much needed boost to our local employment market, and the efforts of our dedicated team of subcontractors were a huge factor in the success of this project.”
