Distinguished Young Women 2012 approaching
Distinguished Young Women 2012 is on the horizon and 17 Bonners Ferry High School junior girls are refining their talent and physical fitness for the event.
They have also been working on community service in the “Be Your Best Self” portion of the program, volunteering for many organizations.
The program begins with the DWY Fashion show at 6 p.m., Friday, March 9, at the Pearl Theater.
The DYW event will be at 6 p.m. in Becker Auditorium, Saturday, March 24. Tickets go on sale soon with an announcement of sale locations next week.
This year’s theme is “Survivor Island.” The 17 will be divided into three tribes: earth, water and fire.
They are practicing on talents and physical fitness.
To prepare for DYW each participant lists their activities and achievements and remains active in community project of their choice.
The DYW program, formerly America’s Junior Miss Scholarship program, is sponsored by the City of Mobile, Mobile County, Eastern Shore Toyota, Encore Rehabilitation, SPANX, Mobile Gas-A Sempra Co., Regions Bank, Alabama Power Foundation and Master Boat Builders.
The 55th national finals will be in Mobile, Ala., June 28-30.
