Avalanche U18 boys pick up two league victories

The Avalanche U18 boys soccer team started the league season on a strong note, defeating the U18 teams of Moscow United and Lewiston United on the road. On Saturday, they defeated Moscow 3-1 on the turf fields of Washington State University, with Andre Zarate and Sebastian Mortimer leading the attack.  

Zarate had two goals and one assist, while Mortimer had two assists and one goal.

The defense played strong and was led goalkeeper, Tanner Jones who held Moscow to one goal and the defensive foursome of TJ Merwin, Ben Morris, Cordell Reed and Peik Wahl.  

The midfield combination of Gusto Kubiak, Kyle Lamson, Kadin McGreevy, Harrison Reasor, Steffen Robles, Lane Smith, Keaton Tremble and Lucas Zirotti did a great job of keeping possession and playing solid defense.

On Sunday, the Avalanche was able to defeat Lewiston 4-1.  McGreevy and Mortimer lead the attack with two goals each.

Lamson had an outstanding game at the outside midfield position, assisting on two goals from great crosses.  

Smith and Zarate also came through with some great through balls that led to goals.  

Defensively, Jones had another solid game in the goal, with Merwin, Morris, Reasor, Reed and Wahl having solid efforts as well.  

The strong midfield play of Robles, Tremble and Zirotti led to great possession play and numerous shots on goal.
