Henslee buys Far-North Deli

Not wanting to see Far-North Deli close this summer, Alison Henslee quickly decided to buy the business.

One look at the menu shows her passion for homemade food.

Henslee kept the six most popular sandwiches and added her homemade touch to the menu.

“I’m offering homemade baked goods when I can,” said Henslee.

“Now that it is fall I’m also making homemade soups.”

She added breakfast to the menu with offerings of breakfast burritos, breakfast sandwiches and quiches.

Lunch offerings include build-your-own sandwiches, wraps and salads. Henslee is also adding a kid’s menu.

True to the deli name, Henslee carries an assortment of deli meats and cheese, including Wood’s smokies and pepperoni sticks.

Henslee aims for quality while making it affordable. “I want to maintain the local, homemade aspect...it tastes better.”

On a larger but still homemade scale, Henslee caters parties, conferences and other get-togethers. “I’m glad to do it for the holidays,” said Henslee of her meat and cheese trays, appetizers and relish trays.

Henslee enjoys supporting the community, whether wearing pink and making pink-frosted cookies for breast cancer awareness or donating money to Hurricane Sandy with every purchase of soup.

As a former employee of Echo Springs Transition Study Center, she believes in helping the students fit into the community. One of her two employees is a student from Echo Springs.

Far-North Deli offers indoor and outdoor seating, call-ahead orders and text-ahead orders.

The deli is open 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
