Boys claim IML title

The Bonners Ferry boys’ soccer team traveled to St. Maries Saturday and were forced to settle with a 1-1 tie against the second-place Lumberjacks.

Freshman Jake Tremble scored the Badger’s goal in the 45th minute, converting from 15 yards out after receiving a well-placed through-ball from senior midfielder Keaton Tremble.

Bonners Ferry dominated possession throughout most of the game, out shooting St. Maries 8-5. With under a minute remaining, the Lumberjacks were awarded a penalty kick, which they converted to tie the game.

Bonners Ferry begins district play Saturday against fourth-placed Priest River at 1 p.m. at Lakeland High School.
