Badgers second in annual home tourney
BONNERS FERRY — The Badger baseball team won two of three games this past weekend as they hosted the three other IML teams in their annual baseball tournament.
In the first game against Kellogg, the Badgers eked out a 13-12 win scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Junior Connor Bennett went four for four in the game and scored three runs and senior Will Weir went one for one with a double and was hit by pitches three times.
In the second game, Bonners Ferry beat Priest River 4-1 behind freshman pitcher Vince Bennett’s first high school victory. Bennett struck out eight while walking only one batter. Mike Clarkson went two for three and Will Weir had a double in the game.
In the third game, the Timberlake Tigers scored five runs in the third and six runs in the fourth to knock off Bonners Ferry 12-2 in five innings.
Will Weir went two for two at plate for the Badgers.
The Badger baseball team is 5-5 in the season heading into league play beginning with a home game Tuesday, April 9 against Priest River at 4 p.m.
