Erwin M. Voegele, 90

Erwin M. Voegele, 90, a long-time resident of Bonners Ferry passed away on March 23, 2013, at Ace Elder Care in Bonners Ferry. Funeral services will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bonners Ferry on Saturday, April 6 at 2 p.m. A service will follow at Grandview Cemetery.

He was born on June 2, 1922, in Hosmer S.D. to John and Paulina Voegele.

Erwin joined the U.S Navy in 1944 where he served until 1946 after which he met and married Wilma Georhing on June 20, 1948. They moved to Bonners Ferry in 1959 where Erwin went to work for Robert Meeker at Meekers Machine Shop for 25 years.

After retiring at 62, he led a full and active life.

He loved to fish, and was an avid gardener. Erwin was a charter member of the Bonners Ferry Eagles and a former elder of the Trinity Lutheran Church.

He enjoyed playing pinochle, loved to dance to country western music, and played the piano and organ for many local occasions and spoke fluent German.

Erwin is survived by three children Darnell Voegele and wife Patti, Peggy Voegele of Bonners Ferry, Pam Bryant and husband Calvin of Elma Wash.; two brothers, Lester Voegele and Myron Voegele; three sisters, Ida Adams, Irene Niewsma of South Dakota and Mavis Pietz of Rosemount Minn.; grandchildren Darrell, Angela, Heidi, Bruce, Hollie; three step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; ad numerous nieces and nephews.

Erwin was preceded in death by his wife Wilma, his mother and father and three brothers.
