The Bonners Ferry Lacrosse Club continues play this week traveling to Spokane to take on the Mt. Spokane team in a non-league game under the lights on Tuesday, April 9.

On Friday, April 12 the Warriors return to Spokane to take on University High School with the face-off scheduled for 5 p.m.

Coaches John Niewieroski and Brandon Glaza hope that the offense led by Zach Wilson, Loren Abeyta, Numa Aitken, Jake Wilson and Josh Miller will continue to find the back of the cage with the rock.

The coaches had high praise for goalie Dale “Morris” McAllister, Ryan Mullison, Joel Field and Chance Reid, after the game against the Gonzaga Prep Bulldogs two weeks ago. These players are playing new defensive positions this year and played well together as a defensive unit.

With a squad of just 12 players the coaches are hoping that second year player Greg Dinning, and first year players Zach MacWilliams and Will Sawle will see more playing time as they become more familiar with their assignments.

On Tuesday, April 16, the Warriors will play their first home game at the high school soccer field against the Sandpoint Bulldogs. Face-off time is scheduled for 5 p.m.

There is no charge for admission, so I would encourage people in the community to come out and cheer on the team playing the newest sport activity in Bonners Ferry.

Coach Niewieroski has several players still looking for work details to earn funds in order to pay off their pay to play fees. Anyone interested in offering the players a work detail can contact Coach Niewieroski at 267-2778.
