Badgers survive deluge in Freeman

The Badger track squad traveled to Freeman, Washington for a track meet on Friday, April 12 and came home feeling like drowned rats. Halfway through the meet the clouds opened up and drenched the track athletes for three hours.

The Badgers hung in there amidst the driving rain to cheer home their 4 x 400 relay teams and pack up the wet tents to head home.

The Rice boys led the charge again bringing home gold. Kyler was first in the high jump at 6’2”. Kody set a new personal best of 40’10.5” in the triple jump. Wyatt Nelson was fourth at 5’2”. Carman Krichbaum also garnered gold in the shot put tossing 41’4.5”.

Distance runners Luke Reoch and Collin Cossairt ran to silver and bronze. Reoch was second in the 3200 at a time of 10:42 and Cossairt’s third place time in the 1600 was 5:03.

The weight men’s relay team of Wyatt Bennett, Evan Ellis, Robert Swanson, and Carman Krichbaum ran to second place in their 4 x 100 relay. The 4x 400 relay of Collin Cossairt, Jacob Perkins, Davis Merrifield, and Kyler Rice were third in a time of 4:02.1. The medley relay of Jacob Perkins, Luke Reoch, Kody Rice, and Chase Dinning were third in a time of 12:15.

Davis Merrifield was third in the pole vault at 10’. Caelan Rapp and Josh Dufrene tied for fifth at 9’6”.

For the girls, Courtney Tucker was second in the 200 at 28.7 and fourth in the 400 at 67.5. In the 300 hurdles, Mackenzie Mendenhall was second in a time of 52.7. In the throwers relay, Sarah Beck, Breanna Via, Jessy Trocke, and Sarah Schuman were third in a time of 1:05.7.

Lily York was second in the pole vault at 8’. Emma Kelly was fifth at 7’6”. Klarity Rice was sixth in the high jump at 4’4”. Sarah Schuman was fifth in the discus at 97’9’ and fourth in the shot put at 31’9”.

In the distance relay, Aimee Sayers, Olivia Fee, Elizabeth Tanner, and Hannah Lysne were second. The 4 x 400 relay team of Mackenzie Mendenhall, Lily York, Allyson Merrifield, and Elizabeth Tanner were second in a time of 4:49.5.

The long gold medal winners were the 4 x 200 relay team of Courtney Tucker, Allyson Merrifield, Lily York, and Mackenzie Mendenhall. They ran a time of 1:55.16.

The Badger squad travels to Priest River on Saturday for their invitational.
