The south end of Deep Creek Loop will be closed for up to 60 days late this summer for construction. The last remaining narrow bridge will be replaced in August and September.

At the north end of Deep Creek Loop, there will be work done at the Deep Creek Slide, just west of the railroad trestle. The construction may possibly close the road for up to 20 days said Jeff Gutshall, Boundary County Road and Bridge superintendent.

The two projects could be under construction at the same time.

“That’s when the money is here,” said Gutshall of the federal aid money. “We don’t have much of a choice.”

For residents between the two construction zones on Deep Creek Loop, access to the highway will be on Pleasant Valley Loop and Lookout View Road.

The Road and Bridge department will be working on Pleasant Valley Loop before the Deep Creek Loop construction. They will be brushing along the road for sight improvement and will be doing dust abatement.

“The emergency routes will be as good as they can be,” said Gutshall.

Also under construction in August or September will be the Lions Den slide area. Lions Den Road may be partially closed or restricted when trucks are hauling.

“We may be able to maintain a single lane,” said Gutshall.

Emergency crews will be notified of the closures and alternate emergency routes prior to construction.
