BONNERS FERRY — Thinking of entering a favorite jam, homemade quilt or pet rabbit in the fair?

The County Fair is less than two weeks away and open class entries begin on Tuesday, Aug. 13.

Open Class livestock, rabbits and poultry need to be entered on Tuesday, Aug. 13 and pre-registration of livestock must be done no later than Aug. 9.

Open class exhibits need to be entered on Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning. Small animals also need to be entered Wednesday morning.

Consult the fair books for exact times. Fair books are available at local businesses, the fair office and the county extension office.

Special fair contests begin on Wednesday, including vegetable critters, peach pie baking contest, Dutch oven cooking contest and tug of war.

Friday brings the 4-H/FFA market animal sale and Saturday includes the parade, lawn mower race and Family Fun night.

The county fair extends past the fairgrounds as businesses decorate their front windows to reflect the fair theme, “It’s Magic at the Boundary County Fair”. Businesses need to pre-register and judging occurs on Tuesday, Aug. 13.

Missing from the fair this year is “Fairest of the Fair” and Friends of the Fair. Judith Regehr and her group of volunteers who organized the events will be missed.

The Fair Board always welcomes volunteers and there is still time to volunteer at the fair this year. The volunteer kick-off is on Saturday, Aug. 10. If you would like to volunteer at the fair this year, contact Sandy at 267-7041.
