Captain George Winkelseth

| August 2, 2013 9:00 AM

George Winkelseth, much loved husband, father, brother, friend, grandfather and great grandfather left his family on July 21, 2013, for his final flight home.

Born in California in the Depression, he grew up in a military family and went on to the US Navy where he became a pilot. His flying career spanned the Navy, Continental Airlines, Boeing and finally his own company where he trained airline pilots.

He had an enormous dedication to his family and his work and with a combination of patience, humor, a positive attitude and a firm hand has guided us all to become strong and loving people.

George had been married to Christine for 32 years, and resided in Gig Harbor, Wash., with her for 26 of those years. Previously he was married to Sarah, mother of his children, Kim, Casandra and Alan, for 18 years until she passed.

His wife Christine, his children and their spouses, sister Jan, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren will carry on his legacy, remember the things he taught us, celebrate his life and testament to Jesus Christ our Lord.
