Block Party playground fundraiser
BONNERS FERRY — Community members are rallying to raise money for the new playground at Memorial Park (the fairgrounds).
To help Boundary County Parks and Recreation raise money for the playground, the Bonners Ferry Herald is holding a fundraiser during their second annual block party on Friday, Aug. 23.
Parks and Recreation needs to raise over $67,000 for the first phase of the playground, which they hope to have completed next summer.
Many businesses have donated items for the silent auction, including a flight lesson at Northern Air, a package at Kootenai River Inn, and gift certificates to Larsons, Well Life Boundary Pharmacy and Triple Play. Businesses and individuals are welcome to donate items to the silent auction. All funds raised through donations and the silent auction will be matched by Panhandle State Bank.
The block party will be fun for the entire family. Northwest Inflatables is setting up a bounce house for children and entertainment is being arranged.
The first 200 people will receive a free lunch of hot dogs or hamburgers, chips, cookies, cake and a beverage donated by local businesses, including Far North Deli, Frito Lay, Super 1 Foods, Safeway, and Akins Harvest Foods.
Join the Herald staff at the Georgia Mae Plaza between 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. for lunch, bidding in the silent auction and family fun, all for the new playground on Friday, Aug. 23.
