M. Lucille (Childress) Owen-Huston, 81

M. Lucille (Childress) Owen-Huston, 81, passed away at 10:30 p.m., on July 31, 2013 at the Boundary Community Hospital in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, where she had been fighting a losing battle with congestive heart failure.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Bonners Ferry Funeral Home in Bonners Ferry with interment at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, at the Riverview Cemetery, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Lucille was born on Nov. 9, 1931, in Shawnee, Okla., to Charles William and Flora Bell (Durham) Childress. Lucille graduated from Shawnee, Okla., High School where she was always active in women’s basketball and other sports.

She then located to live with an aunt and uncle in California, where she met her first husband, Joseph Michael Owen, Jr. and was married on May 7, 1950. in Quartsite, Ariz.

The family lived for some time in Compton, Calif., after which they relocated to the Corvallis, Ore., area, where Lucille became employed in the city finance and accounting department. Being responsible for all city employees’ payroll and outstanding city invoices.

After the death of her husband on March 8, 1990, she moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. to be nearer to her son Rande. There she met and married her present husband William (Bill) Huston on March 13, 1992.

She was an active artist and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph Owen, brothers: John Lewis Childress, Loren Dale Childress, son: Ronald Kelly Owen and daughter: Sheree Lynn Owen.

She is survived by brother Edward Franklin Childress, sisters; Rose May Austin and Dorothy Mae Magnuson; sons: Joseph Michael Owen; Rande Curtis Owen; Daughter Cynthia Lynn Owen Wood; and husband William R. Huston and her grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
