Naples man killed in crash

A Naples man was killed Tuesday evening after a collision on Highway 95 at Mountain Meadows Road.

Idaho State Police identified the victim as Joshua W. Wilkerson, 25, son of Wayne and Wanda Wilkerson.

State police said Wilkerson was southbound in a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero on U.S. Highway 95 when he stopped to turn east on to Mountain Meadows Road. Keith D. Anderson, 22 of Coeur d’Alene, traveling southbound in a 2004 Subaru rear ended Wilkerson and pushed Wilkerson’s vehicle into the northbound lane of travel.

Wilkerson’s vehicle was then struck by a vehicle driven by Derek J. Carpenter, 32, of Moyie Springs.

Carpenter was traveling northbound in a 2013 Dodge Ram Truck.

State police reported Wilkerson succumbed to his injuries at the scene and next of kin were notified. Wilkerson was wearing his seat belt.

Two passengers in Carpenter’s vehicle were transported to Boundary Community Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Anderson and Carpenter sustained no injuries.

The crash occurred at 5:16 p.m. at milepost 498. The highway was blocked for about 2.5 hours.
