In honor of the annual Kootenai Valley Sportsmen Association Gun and Horn Show, this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Fairgrounds, we bring you these pictures.

Can you identify the year, hunters, rifles and species? If you know the answer, please email doyouremember@meadowcrk.com by Sunday evening. Give your answer, name, and telephone number, in case we have questions.

Last week’s picture showed the Kootenai Hotel at the corner of Main and Bonner. The building was a hotel with room for dancing on the upper floor. It burned in 1923 and was replaced with a brick building known as the Myers and Strom Building.

Jill’s Café is in the lower level of this building today. The empty lot in the forefront of the picture is where Huckleberry Variety is now, but was originally built as a bank.

The building across the street from the Hotel and to the back is the original location of Meeker’s Machine Shop before it moved across the street in later years.

We appreciate your input in correctly preserving the history of our county. Thank you to everyone for your help!
